I recently saw some Homemade Febreze on Pinterest that I was interested in trying out... I thought "How great would that be to review!" but then I realized that I didn't have any liquid fabric softener in the house. I did, however have some Downy Unstopables & thought I'd try it out and see if I could make it work.
I filled the cap of the small bottle of Unstopables, filled a large spray bottle with warm tap water & shook the bottle until the beads were dissolved! SIMPLE as that.

The smell is FANTASTIC. I'm obsessed! & It was so easy and cheap to make! Plus, if the scent is too strong or not strong enough, it's easy to adjust to your liking!
I've used my homemade Febreze to spray my curtains, couch, bedding & everything in between! It really freshens the house up, especially with 2 dogs, & 3 cats running around here!

If you try this out, let me know how you like it! :)

Found you through Twitter!! Awesome idea!! I love Febreeze but it's so expensive! This looks perfect & very cost efficient.

LOVE this idea! I have been making my own with fabric softener for quite some time, but I love the idea of using the Unstoppables!!!

I made this homemade Frebrezze. But found it left a powdered residue on my clothes when I sprayed my clothes in the closet. I am sure from the baking soda.

I made this. Followed all the instructions. Smelled good BUT when I sprayed it it left white dots on everything. What a mess. Everywhere it fell was covered in white spots. Hardwood floor, tables! What went wrong!!!

Don't put baking soda in it. Just use the scented beads and water.

Put a splash of alcohol in it instead of the baking soda.

I bought Sure Scents instead of Unstopables. Should I go back to the Dollar Store and exchange it?

Followed all instructions but when I sprayed it. Wherever the spray fell on floors tables counters it left a white spotted residue

try using less beads (i find unstoppables is a little more greasy than liquid softener ) both beads & liquid can spot if not enough water. play around with ratios and pay attention to size of bottle as ratio may varie

Leave a white speckled residue everywhere. Not that great at all.

I used gain fireworks instead i filled the cup once then a little more lol used hot water and let my daughter throw it around after about 5 minutes i walked aroubd the house spraying it Omg it smells so good in here...... Only thing the floor was kind of wet after so i recommend using it when nobody is really home, but over all i love ( no white stains left behind)

I've tried this only the recipe I got said to add baking soda and love how it makes my house smell but the problem with it is that it's hard to spray it out of the bottle. It gets clogged and I have to keep unclogging it. And suggests?

I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one having difficulty with clogging. I couldn't use the recipe because I became too frustrated that I couldn't spray from the bottle. I added additional water. Still no luck.

this reciipe did not call for the baking soda...so should we use baking soda, and if so....how much? also why has everyone been complaining about white spots? what are they from and what can you do to stop them from happening?

I read in a previous article where this should not be used because it is extremely flammable. Is this true?

I have to agree, it smells great but the white residue everywhere you spray it on, stopped me from using it

Used Downy Unstoppables and just hot water in an empty spray bottle purchased from Walmart and everything went fine. No spots, no residue. Even the cats' futon (they took it over....) smells great. Am also washing their blankets for on top of the futon with the unstoppable now to boost the scent. Really liking this idea!!
