Introducing the KONG Genius Mike dog toy!

This toy is a new take on the original KONG toy. It is much larger, allowing you to stuff it with more goodies. The size and shape makes it easier for a dog to hold onto with their paws.

My favorite part about this toy is that both ends are of equal size. Not only making is easier to stuff, easier for your dog to get treats out (before getting frustrated or bored with it), but also makes is much easier to clean! Which has been a problem with the original KONG for some.

Because it's deep, it takes your dog a little longer to work out whatever's inside. This is also dishwasher safe! I have this orange one, and a hot pink one, as well as the Genius Leo, a connector piece that looks like a bowling pin! This has held up quite well with my Pit Bull, however, she is not much of a chewer. I have had these for a few years, and they still look good as new!

The Genius Mikes is available in three sizes: Small, Large, X-Large, and range from $9.99-$18.99. These are sold at most PetSmart's, PetCo's, and Pet Food Express.

EXTRAS:
  • Stick a 6" Bully stick inside to give your dog an extra challenge!
  • For an extra special treat, stick peanut butter, canned food, bananas, or even yogurt in your KONG Genius Mike, and freeze it! Perfect for hot summer days, and it takes some extra work to get the goodies out! This is great to keep your dog busy, and occupied, and out of trouble!

What a beautiful dog.

We have this toy & we love to stuff it full of ice cubes in the summer. Sometimes we freeze yogurt or peanut butter and stuff it in there, too. Keeps the dogs SO busy, and cleaning this is so much easier than the traditional Kong.

Have you tried the Kong treats or treat spray in the can? Do you recommend them? we haven't tried them & I'm not sure what the quality is verses other brands

Thanks!

Hi Maria! Thank you for your comment!

I didn't have high expectations of the KONG treats, but these ones weren't that bad! http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11912785&lmdn=Brand&f=PAD%2FpsNotAvailInUS%2FNo

There's a little more flour in there than I would like, but no corn, wheat, or soy, or by-products, etc. It would be nice, however, if meat were the first ingredient.

Now the stuffing I have used, it has been handy and not messy! However, the ingredients aren't great: "Milk, Soybean Oil, Water, Dextrose, Maltodextrin, Modified Corn Starch, Whey, Peanut Flour, Sodium Phosphate, Salt, Lactic Acid, Natural Flavor, Sorbic Acid (as a preservative), Caramel Color, Annatto Extract (color), Cheese Cultures, Rennet."

First off, milk is the first ingredient! Dogs cannot break down lactose, and can cause digestive problems. Soybean oil: Many dogs are allergic to soy. Corn starch: I mean, really? There are NO real ingredients in this stuff!

It's fine as an occasional treat, but I would much rather give regular peanut butter! The stuffing is also pretty expensive. A CostCo jar of peanut butter will last much longer!

I feed this brand of treats and put them in the KONG: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11742448&lmdn=Brand&f=PAD%2FpsNotAvailInUS%2FNo

Hope this helps! :)

Do you recommend these for tough chewers? My pitbull chews through toys very quickly. The only thing she hasn't been able to rip apart is the extreme black kong toy.

can you recommend anything else?

great review, we do love Kong brand!

Hi Amy!

I would say this might not be the best for the really tough chewers. Mine isn't a chewer, so it's hard for me to say if it would hold up to a big time chewer or not. I would heavily monitor your dog with this, and of course remove when he/she starts trying to rip it apart!

You could try the KONG Wobbler: http://www.kongcompany.com/products/for-dogs/interactive/wobbler-2/wobbler/

It's a hard plastic, rather than the rubber-type toys. You put kibble or smaller treats in it, much like with the other KONG toys.

Here's a guide to help you pick the best KONG for your chewer: http://www.kongcompany.com/healthy-pets/user-guide/

I hope this helps!! :)
